Completing his mandate in Moldova, the diplomat visited Gagauzia, where he met with the Head of the Autonomy and the Chairman of the National Assembly.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the interaction of the branches of Autonomy with OSCE.
In this context, interlocutors positively assessed the results of cooperation, noting the importance of the initiated process on harmonization of the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and ATU Gagauzia.
Governor of Gagauzia thanked the Ambassador for the active dialogue and support of initiatives of the leadership of the Autonomy at the level of the central authorities of the Republic and in international organizations.
"Thanks to the OSCE mission, a dialogue with the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova was started, an inter-parliamentary group was created, which included deputies of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia,".
"I hope that soon we will see the long-awaited positive signal of good governance associated with the bills that confirm the Moldovan law of 1994 on the special status of Gagauzia and are now under consideration by the Moldovan Parliament. This would be good for both Gagauzia and the Republic of Moldova, "said Michael Scanlan.
The head of the Autonomy together with the Chairman of the National Assembly also awarded the diplomat with the award - the title of "Honorary Citizen of Gagauzia".
