Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia Evghenia Guțul and the Speaker of the National Assembly Dmitri Constantinov held a meeting with the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko.
Bashkan stressed that as a result of the meeting, she was once again convinced that Russia was and remains our close partner, ready to contribute to the development of Gagauzia and the whole of Moldova.
“Dmitri Constantinov, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Gagauz Autonomy, and I met with Valentina Matviyenko, Head of the Federation Council, who assured that our cooperation is also important and valuable to Moscow.
Yes, the current Moldovan authorities are trying to break off relations with Russia, but our peoples will not be deceived. We are connected by historical ties, a partnership that has brought and will continue to bring benefits. For example, our farmers freely presented their products on the Russian market, which helped them a lot.
Ten Russian regions have concluded a cooperation agreement with Gagauzia. Among them are St. Petersburg, the Moscow region and Tatarstan. In Russia, you can buy Gagauz products, including juices and wine. Such trade interactions are very important to us. I am sincerely glad that we have agreed to develop economic ties. We can have much more of them with Russia than with anyone else. And it will help our economy.”
