Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah met with the delegation of the OSCE Office

The delegation included the Director of the Office of the High Commissioner Christoph Kamp, political advisor to the Commissioner Anton Thumsen, project manager Sarah Stefan, program coordinator Sergey Konovalova.

The parties discussed issues relating to the interaction of the Gagauz authorities with the OSCE on issues of a humanitarian and political nature.

The Governor of Gagauzia highlighted the importance of introducing a parallel language learning program, ANTEM, in pre-school autonomy institutions. This program allowed to develop effective mechanisms for the study of languages on the territory of Gagauzia, said Irina Vlah.

The head of Gagauzia noted the positive results of the work of the expert group in the framework of the CMI project, whose activities were supported by the OSCE. For several years, the OSCE provided technical assistance in the process of harmonizing national and regional legislation.

In the framework of the meeting with the delegation, Irina Vlah described the internal political situation in Gagauzia. The head of autonomy emphasized that Gagauzian region is on the threshold of the Governor elections, and the regional authorities are interested in the transparency of this process, its compliance with electoral legislation and international standards of democracy.
