The Head of Gagauzia Evghenia Guțul payed an official visit to Turkey
Evghenia Guțul payed her first official visit to Turkey. There the Head of Gagauzia had a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, with whom they discussed the current political situation in Gagauzia.
“I addressed Mr. Minister with a letter, asking the Turkish side to urge official Chisinau to abandon attempts to destabilize and manipulate the Gagauz autonomy. We also discussed new priorities for cooperation between the Republic of Turkey and ATU Gagauzia in the socio-economic sphere, and special attention was paid to Turkey’s participation in programs for studying the Gagauz language and preserving the cultural heritage of the Gagauz people,” the Head of the Autonomy summarized.
Evghenia Guțul also expressed gratitude to the fraternal Turkish people for the constant support of Gagauzia since the establishment of the autonomy.
In addition, the Governor (Bashkan) visited the Xth Congress of the World Turkic Business Council in Turkey. There Evghenia Guțul met and discussed a number of issues with the Chairman of the World Turkic Business Council Nail Olpak, Advisor to the President of Northern Cyprus Gökhan Güler, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Northern Cyprus Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and other high-ranking officials and representatives of the business community.
“In every conversation, my interlocutors asked me to convey fraternal greetings to the Gagauz people and assurances that the Republic of Turkey will provide broad support in the socio-economic development of Gagauzia, the preservation of our language and identity. Gagauz nation rightfully belongs to a large and united family of Turkic peoples. We will consistently strengthen partnerships with Turkey and other countries of the Turkic world,” Governor (Bashkan) said.
