Governor of Gagauzia Evghenia Guțul spoke at the 27th Eurasian Economic Summit

Governor (Bashkan) of the ATU Gagauzia, Evghenia Guțul, spoke at one of the sessions of the Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Suleyman Demirel.
Bashkan emphasized that Gagauzia preserves the memory of Demirel as a great statesman, through whose mediation the interethnic conflict in the south of Moldova was resolved.
“Largely thanks to the diplomatic talent and high authority of the President of Turkey, the central authorities abandoned the forceful scenario and agreed to grant autonomy to the Gagauz people within the framework of the independent and unitary Republic of Moldova.
After Demirel's historic visit to the Autonomy, the Republic of Turkey financed the construction of water supply networks, which our arid region so needed.
Three decades later, the residents of Gagauzia are still surrounded by attention and care from the fraternal Turkish people, as in the 90s of the last century. At the initiative of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, large-scale infrastructure projects are being implemented in the Autonomy, which are changing the appearance of Gagauzia,” the Head of Gagauzia noted.
